You are a very brave and courageous girl for making the such a brave decision. I noticed that many people tried convincing you into having an abortion because of your age, yet you stuck to your gut. To begin, I bet the adoptive mother is extremely happy that you decided to come to term since she could not conceive a baby herself. Your decision seems to be the right one for you because the good outweighs all the bad. The good being a happy adoptive mother and learning a new life lesson. Whereas the bad is getting judged by your peers etc. Although you definitely could have saved yourself from a lot of “stink-eyed” stares and judgments from people looking at your belly, if you aborted in the first place. Giving up the baby for adoption, rather than aborting, is not an easy decision to make, yet your family seemed to support you on making the decision. If you were to not abort nor give the baby up for adoption you would have been caught in an extremely stressful situation. Your life is just getting started and keeping the baby could have prevented you from becoming the person you are truly meant to be. I simply believe that you are too young to raise a baby. Yet your carefree and happy-go-lucky attitude seemed to have helped you in your decision and because of that you made the right one. Yes, you were set back from doing many things while pregnant, but now you can live like a normal teenager again. I am afraid that in the future you may think “what would my life be like if I never gave up the baby for adoption?’ But please, do not do that to yourself because now you can live life, hopefully on some form of birth control, and be free of that sort of responsibility. As for Roe V Wade, which is where women have the right to an abortion, has been an active right and should always stay active. I believe that women have the right to make decisions about their own body. I also believe that yes, women have the right to the 14th amendment which is the right to privacy. Personally, I do not like abortions because it is the killing of a potential being. People simply need to be cautious before having sex in order to avoid the decision on whether to have an abortion or not. Yet there are people who do take precautions and still end up getting pregnant, but if that woman knows that she will not be able to support the baby to the best of her ability then she should abort it. The Roe V Wade decision should always stand for those who become pregnant and cannot afford to raise a child at the time or give it its proper care. I know it is hard for many to even consider abortion, for it would be hard for myself to. Yet if one has the right intentions and they are not aborting just because they do not want to “deal” with it, then that woman has made the right decision. Meanwhile, if a woman considers aborting while living a stable life, then I believe she has made the wrong decision for their is nothing wrong with bringing an extra life into this world. Although, if having a baby threatens to stop one’s life plans from continuing then an abortion should be their answer. I just hope more people begin to use birth control because the thought of killing another being is too much for me to bare. If I were to get pregnant right now, I would keep the baby. I live in a steady household and I know I could do many things while pregnant. Yes, my life plans would be altered but I do not think anything is wrong with adding a baby into it. I am pro-choice and if I was already in college, then my answer would probably be different. I just want nothing to hold other people’s life goals from continuing on so if aborting is an option for them, then they might as well. Sincerely, Annika Flint
